Extra Optical is the story about two entrepreneurs and young fathers from Norway who defied their obstacles in order to challenge the established eyewear industry.

Today, we sell glasses in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Spain, but our headquarters are still in Trondheim.

Extra Optical timeline

Modest beginnings

Extra Optical sees the light of day. Research, supplier visits and preparations. The entrepreneurs work part-time on the project. The web shop is mostly used by friends and acquaintances.

Company setup and expansion

After much hard work on the web shop, there's lots of interest and the entrepreneurs decide to make it a full-time project. Extra Optical AS is established, with two full-time employees.

Best Newcomer award

Extra Optical wins an e-commerce "Newcomer of the Year" award for its creative and innovative concept. The business expands with more employees, and the virtual fitting room is enhanced.

First TV commercials

Agreements are negotiated with a few TV channels for the company's first TV commercials. The company moves to larger premises, and the range is expanded to include well-known designer brands. The company enters new markets

Brand new shop

In 2017, the company developed a brand new and upgraded online store. The product range is expanded to include contact lenses, and the company offers its customers a home try-on option before they order. Our goal is to offer the best online store.

Larger stock

In 2021, the company moved into new larger premises in Trondheim. Among other things, we have increased the number of grinding machines, and launched a whole range of new products such as sports glasses from Oakley. Maybe we will be the cheapest on these too?
